Beach & Dune Care
Beach & Dune Stewardship
Our private beach and fragile dune ecosystem depend on every resident's care. A few simple guidelines keep Kinney Shores beautiful for generations to come.
- Carry in, carry out — leave no trash on the beach or in the dunes
- Stay on marked paths — walking on dune grass destroys root systems
- Apr 1–Sep 30: dogs must be leashed (max 12 ft) and kept 100 ft from marked plover/tern nesting areas
- Oct 1–Mar 31: dogs may be off-leash under strict voice and sight control; leash required in parking areas
- Always clean up pet waste immediately
- No fires or fireworks on the beach — up to $400 fine
- No personal items left on the beach overnight
- Respect marked piping plover and least tern nesting areas (Apr 1–Sep 30)

A Century of Coastal Community
Kinney Shores has been a cherished seaside retreat since the early twentieth century. From the days of the Dummy Railroad that brought summer visitors from Portland, to the generations of families who have called these shores home, our neighborhood carries a rich and living history.
