André Bérard passed away in March and was married to Grace Powell Bérard for over 60 years.  André first traveled to Maine with Grace and her family in 1956 renting a small cottage at the corner of Shore and Seaside from the Skonbergs.  André who worked in sales and traveled frequently enjoyed the 2 weeks spent in August at Kinney Shores.  When he wasn’t surf fishing, he was trout fishing up country or out on a boat trailed all the way from Montréal. André enjoyed many of the neighbors who spent their summers in Kinney Shores and played cribbage in the evenings.  He was very handy and took on many of the chores about the cottage Pine Cone at 494 Seaside.  He shared his love of the outdoors with all 3 of his children, their spouses and later 6 grandchildren.

His daughter Jocelyne found this picture of her father she took when she was about 10 ( She had a new Instamatic camera) and they were staying with their grandparents at their newly purchased cottage by their Grandmother.

There are also two other pictures, one of Jen with their neighbours nanny sitting in front of the Seagull, then owned by the Coffeys. There’s also a picture of André Jr and Jen standing on the wood pile at the back of 494 Seaside when there were still many scrub pines surrounding the cottage.
