Kinney Shores Association
Annual Meeting 8/21/16

Jim called the meeting to order at 12:10ksa_membersaug2016

  • Secretary’s Report for the June meeting was first order of business; Nancy Smith moved to accept the report seconded by Brian Mula-Howard. Vote to accept was unanimous.
  • Lynn Godbout moved that to accept the Treasurer’s Report, Sue Burdsall seconded. Discussion: Treasurer John Thibeault said he had only two deposits to report and would give a complete report for the next board meeting.  Vanya Summerville asked how many paid members we have to date.  John reported 42 households and 800.00 collected.   Vote to accept treasurer’s report was unanimous.
  • Nancy Smith asked about the end of Curtis Ave which has been a community path for many years. The problem is that in 2017 the town has the option to give all paper roads (which according to several members the end of Curtis Ave. is) to the abutting landowners. It is thought that the three abutters may then close the path to the beach.  It is also thought that there may be plans to put in a driveway as well.   Jim will ask people he knows in the town government what the plans are for this property.  Hopefully to allow the continued use of the path by Kinney Shores residents.
  • Lynn Godbout asked about lawn sales and what the town allowed per year. It was stated that twice per year is the rule in Saco.
  • Lisa Gorman asked about the Christmas social and commented on how much fun it was last year. It will be celebrated again this year. Mike and Maggie Thorne volunteered their home for part of the event.
  • Nancy Smith reported that the boardwalk at the end of Outlook had gotten so sandy and washed out that she could not use the walk without help. It was mentioned by Jim Godbout that there were two volunteers who said they would sweep off the walk. Ed Kane and one other.
  • Brian passed out a directory list for everyone to check and make sure the information is accurate.  He again asked for content and pictures.  Pam said she had pictures from the Summer Social that she would send.
  • 1uploadBrian Mula Howard gave the Directory and web page report. He asked for pictures to be sent to him so he could put them on the web page. He mentioned that he fixed the web site access and that now everyone should be able to login.
  • The login name for each member is the first part of the primary email address that each member provided. For example, for Brian his email address is bmulahoward@gmail.com, so his username on the kinneyshores.com site is ‘bmulahoward.’ To obtain your password, first time users will need to follow the ‘Forgot your password?’ link as shown here.  A temporary password will be emailed to you at the email address on file.
  • Brian’s email is bmulahoward@gmail.com for more information and/or assistance.
  • Old Business: Jim talked about the progress on the Parking by Permit issue. It has been suggested that parking from Camp Ellis to Ocean Park be by Permit only.  Renters would need permits as well.  Pam asked if the parking spots could be painted like in Ocean Park. Route is maintained by the city so they would be able to mark the spots.  Parking on Shore Ave has made things very difficult as people are parking all the way to the stop sign and people have difficulty getting out onto route due to lack of visibility.  Only one accident reported in Kinney Shores this year when a bike ran into a car.  We need two dead end signs to be replaced and no parking signs at the ends of the roads. Seems that the signs were removed when the paving was done and never were replaced Jim was going to look into the problem.  Also was mentioned that paid meter parking on route 9 might be a help too.
  • Pam, Jim, Lynn, Jenna, Jonathan, all the helpers and all participants that made the Summer Social a success were thanked by the association. More events for next year will be planned. Jim collected $ 2,700.00  for the Red Ribbon Fund to combat drug abuse.
  • Officer Elections:
    • Jane Campbell Nominated Rick Campbell for the office of Vice President.  The nomination was accepted and Jim Cast the vote
    • Jane Campbell Nominated Brian Mula Howard for the office of Secretary for a term of one year. Brian accepted Jim Cast the vote.
    • Nancy Smith Nominated Jane Kerns to be a Board Member At Large. Jane Accepted and Jim Cast the vote.
    • Ellen Gross will stay on for the Hospitality.
    • Sue Birdsell would like to be a board member when a position opens.

Thanks were given to Joel Schwartz and Jane Campbell for their years of service.

Motion to adjourn was made and seconded…unanimous yes vote.

Respectfully submitted,

Rick Campbell | Former Secretary
