Nancy S. Driscoll

Valedictorian, seamstress, Eucharist Minister, and a woman who lived by Faith, Family, Friends

The Kinney Shores Association mourns the passing of Nancy S. Driscoll, 85, of Saco, who passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at home on the evening of August 9, 2024. Nancy was a beloved presence in our community, and her warmth, her faith, and her generous spirit touched everyone who knew her.

Nancy was born on November 9, 1938, in Boston, Massachusetts, a daughter of William Wayne and Mary (Doucet) Sparrow. She graduated as valedictorian of her class from Holy Trinity High School in Roxbury, earning a full scholarship to Regis College — a distinction that spoke to the quiet determination that defined her whole life.

In 1958, Nancy married John G. Driscoll, and together they built a life in Concord, Massachusetts, where Nancy raised her family and worked as a mail marketing consultant until her retirement in the early 1980s. In retirement, she and John made their home in Saco, Maine and Jensen Beach, Florida — and Kinney Shores became a cherished part of their lives.

Nancy was an extraordinarily gifted seamstress. She created trapunto pillows, upholstered cushions, curtains, quilts, handbags, and clothing — sewing for family, friends, and anyone in need. She volunteered sewing lessons at the Esther Residence for women in Saco and at Mary's Shelter in Florida, and for years she made and donated embroidered Baptismal garments for parishioners of St. Joseph's Church in Stuart, Florida. Her hands were always in service of others.

A Eucharist Minister and devoted parishioner of Good Shepherd Parish in Saco and St. Joseph's Church in Florida, Nancy lived by a simple motto: Faith, Family, Friends. She was remembered by all who knew her for her heartfelt warm hugs, her kindness, and the way she made everyone around her feel seen and loved.

Nancy was predeceased by her husband John G. Driscoll, her son Robert W. Driscoll, and her siblings Richard Sparrow, Rita McDonald, and Mary Palhete. She is survived by her children Mary Ann Florek and husband Francis, and Charles G. Driscoll and wife Sandra Otis; her daughter-in-law Ann Driscoll; eight grandchildren: David and Brittany Driscoll, Patrick Driscoll, A.J., Jack, Chris, and Nick Florek, Raener and Kera Flowers, and Aaron and Katharine Flowers; three great-grandchildren Luke Driscoll, Luke Flowers, and Jade; and siblings Dorothea Sparrow, Judith Sparrow and husband Ed Carroll, Terry Walker, and sister-in-law Diane Sparrow.

The Kinney Shores Association extends its deepest condolences to the Driscoll family. Nancy and John were a pair — and as their dear friend wrote, they are together again. She is greatly missed.
